1)Drug Products Labeled as Homeopathic
The FDA wants to prioritize enforcement and regulatory actions
with regards to drug products labeled as homeopathic and marketed without FDA
approval.
a)
Regulations.gov
b)
People in the comments are upset over this
regulation, they are complaining about more regulations being put in place,
they wish for the government to not get involved
c)
They are the ones complaining in the comments,
many describe that they have been using homeopathic remedies for years
d)
I think the opportunity would be difficult
because it would involve going around the FDA
My mother works in the medical field. I think there is an
opportunity because medicine is always needed. Homeopathic remedies have been
around a very long time so a reputation has been built around them. People who
use these remedies obviously think they are better than new medicines that are
being created today.
2)Baby-boomers are requiring more health care
a) Time
b) It is
estimated that 3 million baby boomers will hit retirement age every year for
the next 20, hospitals will have to be able to care for an increasing number of
elderlies
c) The baby
boomers will be most of the costumers
d) I think
it will be easy because health care is essential for elders, problems arise
when the body gets old
As I explained before, my mom works in the medical field so I
understand its need. She has explained to me how even today, hospitals struggle
to take care of the number of patients. I have also heard of the issues related
to paying for medical expenses. I am also aware that elders require a geriatric
doctor. I have seen the health issues my grandparents have. They have multiple
doctors for problems.
3) Trump places tariffs on Solar Panels
A 30% tariff was put in place on solar equipment.
a) Time
b)
It is estimated that tens of thousands of jobs
are to be lost, this industry was having great success leading up to this point
c)
People who desire clean energy, companies
wanting to switch to clean energy, anyone attempting to develop better was to
get clean energy
d)
I think it is easy because I have seen a
movement of people wanting to switch from using fossil fuels to clean energy.
I learned in my class this semester that clean energy is
less expensive than using fossil fuels. I think companies will benefit more in the
long run when they switch to using clean energy. The increase in the solar
energy market was dramatic in the past couple years.
4) Combating Human Trafficking in Commercial Vehicles
a) Congress.gov
b) It is stated that there are unique challenges in combating
human trafficking within different transportation modes, human trafficking
still exists and is a problem even here in the U.S.
c) The government would purchase something that could help
them find vehicles involved with human trafficking, so would organizations that
are trying to stop human trafficking and churches
d) I do not think it would be difficult because any new technology
that could help stop this problem would be appreciated. There is currently a struggle
to identify the sources of human trafficking in the U.S. and the government and
many organizations desire to see its end.
I have seen the encouragement by churches and society to
find an end to human trafficking. I do not understand the difficulties that law
enforcement experiences when attempting to find how human traffics are
transported around. I believe many people would support efforts in ending this
form of modern day slavery. I have seen how popular movements are that bring
awareness to human trafficking.
ReplyDeleteHey Meg, you did a great job finding opportunities in economic and regulatory trends. The articles you chose were very informative and you explained and broke them down into detail why the opportunity exists. I like how on the article about homeopathic drugs you used your mother as a personal example. It is good to have extra knowledge from someone with experience when pursuing an opportunity. Nice job!
