Idea Napkin #2

I am twenty years old. I enjoy shopping, eating a new places, exploring new places. I love to travel even though I have not been to too many places. I am trying to learn Spanish. Ive grown up in Florida. Ive been a student at UF for almost two years now. I am in a sorority. I work at the gym on campus. I have had an apple device since I was in elementary school. I don't see my business becoming a huge part of my life. Im not sure how much time it takes to create an app and keep it updated and working. It could be time consuming but I do not know.
My app would inform people about how busy a library, coffee shop or study place is at that moment. For libraries it could tell students where open seats are instead of people having to walk around the floors. People trying to study outside of their apartment wont have to drive to their destination to find it slammed packed or wait in long lines for coffee if they dont want to. This app could be for anyone but I feel like students (college and high school) will get the most use out of it. Young adults are likely to use it as well when they want to meet a friend for coffee. People would want to use this app because in our busy society, time means everything. When someone has an exam to cram for, looking for a seat at the library is wasting important time. Driving to a coffee shop to meet up with a friend and finding out there are no open seats is awkward.
This app is unique because it would give information about multiple places. It would not just be for libraries in Gainesville but also coffeeshops and any place that people go to to study. I think the app would focus on one town at a time. Maybe go off the users location and show the locations within a certain mileage. I think I would be able to create this because I have been to most of the locations in Gainesville where people study. I enjoy trying new places and driving to get there.
I am not sure how exactly to create an app like this. I would need to brainstorm ways to incentivize places to let costumers know how busy it is. Once I started making the app I would run into other problems but just thinking about it, I cant picture too many more issues. I would have to find a way to promote the app.
I received good feedback. I think the people who read my post understood what I wanted the product to do. I got good feedback about agreeing there is an unmet problem.

  1. Hey Meg,

I think you did a better job during idea napkin no. 2 describing who you are and what your hobbies were. I think you could have placed more of an emphasis on what your skills are and how they would help you in your business venture. I liked how your idea from the beginning and I think that you did a good job on building on your ideas from the previous idea napkin. I think it would be very helpful, especially for the typical UF student who does not have a lot of time. I think the idea is a good one overall but I have a few questions. First, how would your app track whether or not there are open seats in a library or coffee shop? Second, would you have to pay to have access to your app or have to be a student? Anyways, I thought you did a great job and building off your feedback from the previous idea napkin.

  2. Hey Megan, you did a great job with your first idea napkin and even a better job at your second idea napkin. I think you summarized your goals and intentions clearly and accurately to the point where you know what you want to do. Along with the awesomeness of your idea and the thoughtfulness for your idea napkin i think you did a great job!

  3. Hey Meg,
I think you improved getting your idea across with this second idea napkin. Regarding the idea, I love it and it would probably save much of my time and effort throughout the long study days. I would absolutely download this app myself, but to know about it would be tough, hopefully word of mouth would spread it well enough. Good job!

  4. Hi Meg! I think you did a great job on your second idea napkin. I see the improvements you have made and it really shows in your post. I liked how you gave a very detailed summary of who you are as a person and where you see your company in your life. An app I feel would take a decent amount of time development and even keeping up with updates. Maybe you can outsource this stuff later on in the future.
